Light up your 4th of July with these Independence Day firework displays


If you're looking for a way to enjoy some free fireworks this weekend, here is a list of numerous firework displays, parades and events going on in and around Omaha Friday, Saturday and Sunday! Fireworks, parades and events, oh my!

FRIDAY EVENTS

About 45 minutes after the Omaha Royals baseball game against the New Orleans Zephyrs, the World-Herald fireworks show will begin. This is expected to be a 22 minute diplay of orchestrated fireworks to 1980's music playing on Star 104.5FM on the radio. If rained out, it will be rescheduled for July 4th.

Ralston Park, 80th Street and Park Drive, free event

Ralston is having two days of Independence Day events. On Friday, July 3rd, they are having activities that include a picnic, pie-baking contest, and music and dancing. The free fireworks display is not until Saturday, when they have their fun run, parades and water fights. Fireworks will be set off at dusk.

There are other firework displays going on on Friday at various cities around Omaha. Fremont will have fireworks at Wood-cliff at 10:45pm, Beatrice Speedway in Beatrice, Nebraska will have fireworks at 10pm, and Columbus will have fireworks at the Ag Park at 10pm as well.

SATURDAY EVENTS

Champions Run Golf Course, fireworks start at 10pm

Seville Homeowners Association Independence Day Parade with refreshments and activities from 9am onward. Parade starts at the corner of 148th Avenue and 149th Avenue.

Field Club Parade starts at 10:30 down by 35th Street and Woolworth Avenue.

Maple Village Neighborhood Parade starts near Laura Dodge Elementary School and finishes at Maple Village Park. 4th of July parade starts at 10am.

Candlewood Parade at 130th and Burt Streets starts at 9:30am.

From Nichols Street to Memorial Park, there will be the J.E. George Boulevard parade, starting at 10am on Saturday, July 4th.

Boys Town will be lighting fireworks down by the football field at 9:30pm. If you are interested in attending the event, they suggest using Dodge or Pacific Street entrances.

Council Bluff's Harrah's Casino will have fireworks after their Blue Oyster Cult and Slaughter concert in the Cove. They will begin at 10:00pm and should last around 25 minutes.

Blair, Nebraska will have fireworks set to music down at 715 Grant Street on the 4th of July.

Bennington fireworks will start at 10pm down at the Newport Landing Lake on Saturday.

Fremont, Nebraska has two fireworks displays going on at 10:00pm--one set at Christiansen Field and the other at Woodcliff Lakes.

Gretna will have fireworks at the Tiburon Golf Course at 10pm on Saturday.

SUNDAY EVENTS

If you're headed out towards Lincoln Sunday, check out the fireworks Sunday evening at 9:30pm at the Saltdogs parking lot. Or, if staying in Omaha for the weekend, check out the Midtown Neighborhood Alliance fireworks show at Field Club of Omaha down by 36th and Woolworth Avenue at 10pm.
